Sam Claflin has just been cast as Finnick Odair in the highly anticipated sequel to the ‘Hunger Games’, ‘Catching Fire’. Finnick Odair was a contested role, but according to his ‘Catching Fire’ leading lady, Jennifer Lawrence, Claflin has the chops, the looks, and the accent to pull it off.

When talking to MTV news while promoting her latest release ‘The Silver Linings Playbook’, Lawrence talked about her newest co-star, saying, “[Sam Claflin] is wonderful. He’s really sweet ... a great, wonderful actor. He’s got a great American accent.”
She also adds, “I’m bummed out that Wes Bentley got killed. He was awesome,” as well as talking about her excitement over working with Philip Seymour Hoffman, “Philip Seymour Hoffman. Philip Seymour Hoffman’s in this [as the new Head Gamemaker]. He’s just unbelievable.”
In the interview, Bradley Cooper (Lawrence’s co-star in Silver Linings Playbook) also laughingly adds that he just recently saw the Hunger Games, quipping to Lawrence, “Didn’t I tell you?”
Lawrence has recently spoken up during her time during the Oscars and all the media frenzy surrounding her life and choices (http://www.fansshare.com/news/jennifer-lawrence-talks-oscars-hollywood-parties/#.UGU5EU3R6kM).
Lawrence’s latest movie, ‘the House at the End of the Street’ underperformed at the box office and broke her streak of making only highly acclaimed movies.
