Over the past few years we have seen a lot of different books being adapted for the big screen, with plenty of movie adaptations being made but, it is not only the big screen that has been using books as their source material, as we have also seen some television shows doing the same.
One such television series, which has been adapted from a book, is the hit television series Outlander, which sees the talented actor Sam Heughan starring in the role of Scottish warrior Jamie. Sam has now opened up about starring in Outlander, talking about how much influence the books have had on the series.
Heughan explained, "We hadn't heard of the books before we were first asked to audition, but I think we both went out as soon as we found out there was a book and got copies and they've been great source material to go back to during shooting to just see where the characters are."
Heughan then went on to admit that he is actually quite surprised by how close to the books the television series has remained, adding, "And, every time I do, I'm quite sort of surprised about how close we are to the book. I think it's certainly a conscious decision to remain true to Diana's books."
As well as starring Sam Heughan, the Outlander cast also includes the likes of John Heffernan, Nell Hudson, Graham McTavish, Duncan Lacroix, and Caitriona Balfe, among many other talented stars. Outlander is preparing for its first season, with the series premiere set to air on Starz on Saturday.
