While there was quite a fair amount of negative reactions to the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, the film still proved a huge success at the box office and will lead to the sequel Fifty Shades Darker. While the director of Fifty Shades of Grey, Sam Taylor-Johnson, has admitted that she is still very proud of her movie, she has admitted that she could not possibly return to direct Fifty Shades Darker.

Taylor-Johnson was at the premiere for the Marvel movie Avengers: Age of Ultron, supporting her husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson, when she explained, "I'm flattered they wanted me to continue. But it was a monumental job - that was enough for me."
Meanwhile, Sam Taylor-Johnson also went on to talk about the amount of attention the release of Fifty Shades of Grey received when it opened earlier this year. WHile it was expected to be such a huge movie, Sam has admitted that she was not expecting quite so much attention.

Taylor-Johnson added, "I couldn't really have ever expected that after working in a small, dark room for almost a year editing. I wish them all the luck in the world."
While Sam Taylor-Johnson will not return to direct Fifty Shades Darker, we will still see the return of Jamie Dornan in the role of Christian Grey, and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. The screenplay for Fifty Shades Darker is currently being worked on by Niall Leonard, with the movie scheduled to hit the big screen some time in 2017.
