Although Samantha Barks used to really be known primarily as a theater actress, she has transitioned into films with her breakout role in Les Miserables.

She starred in a television series called Groove High in 2012, but it was the critical and commercial acclaim of Les Miserables that introduced her to global audiences and filmgoers across the country. She has just finished filming The Christmas Candle with Hans Matheson and Lesley Manville.
She has also landed a sought after role in Dracula Untold, which will take vampire mythology combined with Prince Vlad [otherwise known as Vlad the Impaler] to tell the story of Dracula. The cast is fantastic, with Barks joining Luke Evans in the titular role, and a supporting cast with Dominic Cooper, Charlie Cox, Sarah Gadon, Noah Huntley, Zach McGowan, and Art Parkinson.

Samantha Barks will next star in Dracula Untold
The film's currently set for release in October of 2014, but it will be interesting to see if Barks' career continues with films or she decides to return to stage. She's doing very well for the moment, but the competition for films is incredibly high, and she needs to start booking more roles to keep up her momentum.
