Not many people apart from ‘Les Miserables’ fans knew who Samantha Barks was going into the Oscars, but that all changed when she showed up in a plunging black gown that drew stares of admiration on the red carpet last night.

You have to have a certain body shape to pull off that kind of gown, and luckily, Samantha Barks definitely did. She spoke to Pop Sugar about performing on stage with the rest of the ‘Les Miserables’ cast, saying, “I’m very excited.”
She also talked about what it was like being at the Oscars, saying, “It is different [than I thought it would be]. I thought it would be a lot more manic. It’s actually quite calm, it’s to do with being outside in the weather, it’s nice and sunny. Yeah, there’s a more calm vibe to it then I thought.”

Overall, Barks’ profile has definitely raised since Les Miserables came out, and she’s reportedly in talks for some more roles that could put her on the map for mainstream movie stardom. We know she’s got the acting chops and the voice to pull off a musical performance, so wouldn’t it be nice to see her in an iconic musical that’s different from ‘Les Miserables’?
