Samuel Jackson has a new interview with Flicks and Bits, talking about his SHIELD character in ‘The Avengers’, in time for promotion for the movie’s DVD and Blu-ray release.

He talks about being part of the Marvel cinematic universe, as well as people learning more about his character Nick Fury as the movies progress.
Talking about Marvel characters, he says, “It’s real great. Just the fact that it’s such a vast and wonderful kind of landscape to explore, that there are a lot of stories to be told that I can be a part of or I can just sit back and watch and enjoy (laughs). And the fact that they’re such complete, intricate individuals, the Marvel characters. That’s great, really great. There’s stories, everybody lives in a different place, everybody’s coming from a different place, everybody’s trying to make their way in this ordinary world as an extraordinary individual – like when Thor visits it’s kind of a fish out of water story. Those are always interesting. Captain America is a fish out of water in a time he doesn’t quite understand.”
He also talks about the audience getting to know more about Nick Fury, saying, “He’s a mysterious sort of icon figure, we know he’s been around for a while – we don’t know if he’s 90 years old or if he’s 190 years old (laughs), you know? He’s a part of the shadow community, he and Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff share a common bond in that field and I think he brought her into the light. He runs S.H.I.E.L.D. and he still keeps secrets from a lot of people, especially the people he works for. Which makes him a wildcard in this whole sort of thing, you don’t know if he’s on the right side or the wrong side. He’s interesting.”
