The Host actress Saoirse Ronan has been cast in the movie How to Catch a Monster, the directorial debut of actor Ryan Gosling. Saoirse has yet to begin shooting the movie but she has given her opinions on how she thinks Ryan will approach directing the movie, following conversations that she has had with him.
While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Ronan explained, "I think it's going to be very experimental. I think Ryan is going to be very supportive as a director, just because he's an actor as well and he gets it. From what he's been telling me about the approach he wants to take, he wants us to really discover these characters ourselves and use our imaginations to create these characters.
She added, "He's already written great characters on the page, but he wants us to develop those even more as people. I like that he's put so much trust in his actors to do that. I think it'll be really fun and really cool."
As well as starring Saoirse Ronan, How to Catch a Monster also stars Eva Mendes, Ben Mendelsohn, Matt Smith and Christina Hendricks. How to Catch a Monster is set to begin shooting in May, with the view to a 2014 release date.
