While Marvel have been enjoying their dominance of the comic book movie scene, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe getting bigger and better all the time, there has always been one thing that fans have felt let down by. That is the shortage of strong female characters, with fans calling for Marvel to bring more of their female characters to the big screen.
Well it seems that their concerns have been heard, as Marvel are bringing us some more of their strong female characters in the movie sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now, Scarlett Johansson, who plays the role of Black Widow in the Marvel movies, has praised Marvel for introducing a number of strong female characters for Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Johansson explained, "There were all kinds of characters [at the premiere]. There was a Ms. Marvel, there was a Wasp and a lot of Black Widows out there...one thing I got from all of them is that there is space- they're excited to see [a] female represented in these movies. I think Marvel's kind of heard that note and you'll see some pretty strong female characters in Avengers 2 coming up."
As well as having Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Avengers: Age of Ultron will also see Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill and it will be interesting to see which other female characters might appear in the film. Avengers: Age of Ultron will hit the big screen on May 1, 2015 in both the US and the UK.
Which of Marvels female characters would you like to see adapted for the big screen?
