With the amount of comic book movies that we have had over the years, we have been given plenty of villains to enjoy, as well as the heroes of the piece. There have been plenty of impressive performances from actors playing villains in comic book movies over the years but, one of the best of the bunch would have to be Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight.
Hollywood actor Sebastian Stan stars in the upcoming Marvel movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier as the villain The Winter Soldier and he has opened up about playing the role. Sebastian has spoken out to praise the late Heath Ledger, claiming that his performance as The Joker has raised the bar for comic book movie villains.
During a recent interview, Stan said, "I just always admired his performance and him as an actor, I can't compare myself to anything like that. He is an inspiration. That was his most memorable performance, [the Joker]. I think we've all seen in the last decade [how excellent these performances have been]. So for me it's just a responsibility you know, Playing a villain as a character, just look at how these other guys have done it. What can I do to contribute?"
As well as starring Sebastian Stan, Captain America: The Winter Soldier also stars Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L Jackson, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell and Scarlett Johansson, among others. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open on March 26 in the UK, before then hitting the big screen in the US on April 4.
