Selena Gomez has debuted her latest song 'Come And Get It' to strong critical and commercial reception, with numerous fans already causing the song to rise to the top of the charts. Some have said the song is quite different to Gomez's usual fare, but others are saying that it's a sign of maturing taste. However, almost everyone assumed that the song was about Justin Bieber when they heard the lyrics.
Some of the lyrics include, "I love you much, too much to hide you, this love ain’t finished yet" and have caused speculation that Gomez is singing about her ex-boyfriend.
When asked about what the lyrics meant in an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Gomez revealed that while she did write the song during her breakup with Bieber, the song is not about him. She said, "Honestly, actually, to be 100 percent real, it’s not really about a specific person. The reason why I wanted this to be the first single was because it exudes, like I said earlier, confidence and strength, and that is something I’m willing to share with the world. That’s the place I want to be in, and I want to represent something good and be a good example, so I think it’s fun.”
In the same interview, Gomez does also confirm that she is single and available, adding that no guys have asked her out over the past couple of months. Although the lyrics of her latest song may suggest otherwise, she seems confident in what she said and although cynics may not believe her, she at least seems to be completely over Bieber.
