There are so many people around the world today, who have a lot of issues going on in their life but suffer in silence, as they feel that talking out loud about their problems makes them weak, when it is actually the complete opposite. The first step to dealing with any problem in your life, is to accept the issue and talk out loud about it, so that you can then take the necessary steps to improving your life.
Music superstar Selena Gomez has always been a woman who has not been afraid to talk openly about her problems and she has now spoken out about how therapy has helped to change her life for the better. Selena says that speaking about her problems makes her feel so much better, so she has encouraged other women around the world to be strong and talk about therapy.
Gomez appears in the US Vogue, and in the publication she revealed, "DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) has completely changed my life. I wish more people would talk about therapy. We girls, we’re taught to be almost too resilient, to be strong and sexy and cool and laid-back, the girl who’s down. We also need to feel allowed to fall apart."
She added, "My self-esteem was shot. I was depressed, anxious. I started to have panic attacks right before getting onstage, or right after leaving the stage. Basically I felt I wasn’t good enough, wasn’t capable. I felt I wasn’t giving my fans anything, and they could see it - which, I think, was a complete distortion."
We find it very refreshing and encouraging when a big name superstar comes out to talk about such things, reassuring us that we are not alone and can seek the help we need.
