Singer and actress Selena Gomez has revealed that she will be heading to the Congo as part of her humanitarian work as the ambassador of UNICEF. Selena has previously been on trips to Ghana and Chile but claims that those trips were just to ease her into going to a much tougher place. Selena has admitted that she is proud to be able to help those in need.
Gomez explained, "We first went to Ghana and then we went to Chile. In April, we're going to go somewhere a little harder, the Congo...The first trips were to ease me into it." She added, "I was talking to Joel Madden and he works with Unicef and he went to the Congo. He said it was the most intense thing he had ever done in his entire life—and the best thing he had ever done."
It is not the first time that Selena Gomez has helped the Congo. Back in 2009, Selena was in Los Angeles for the Raise Hope for the Congo event, which was dedicated to raising awareness of sexually violence towards women and girls in the country. Selena Gomez has been an ambassador for UNICEF for two years now and hopes to continue helping for many years to come.
