When a young and talented star comes through the ranks over at the Disney Channel, it is pretty much guaranteed that they can both sing and act, which means that they will then have to choose which direction to take their career once they finally cut their ties with Disney. With that said, we do see these young stars giving us plenty of music, as well as acting in plenty of different projects along the way.
Selena Gomez has become one of the biggest stars on the planet, after first making a name for herself as a Disney child star. Over the past few years, Selena has been focusing her efforts on her music career, which has proven very successful for her, but it now looks like this beautiful star is going to have a little break from the music scene, as she focuses on proving herself as an actress.
Gomez explained, "I think there's a lot for me to explore. I'm in a place with my music where I've gone through this transition and I feel with this album (Revival) I've been able to grow as an artist. But I feel like in acting, I haven't touched the surface of what I'm able to do. I hope I can continue to grow and get better. I know that's going to take a lot of time, especially if music continues to do what it does."
She added, "My intention was always to be an actress and a singer. Unfortunately, it just kind of got clouded. I never really wanted to be on tabloids or anything like that. I think it's wonderful now. I've been able to build my platform up because of who I am on the inside and just doing what I love, which is film, which is music. I'm not oblivious to that being the road bump. But I'm also prepared to keep fighting through it."
We will next get to see Selena Gomez on the big screen in the new movie Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, which is set to hit the big screen in May, while she also has a role in the movie The Revised Fundamentals of Caring, which will debut at Sundance Film Festival on January 29.
