Manchester City’s Argentine International striker Sergio Aguero has defended his Premier League strike partner Mario Balotelli following the Italians latest controversial incident. Mario Balotelli avoided being sent off against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend after seeming to stamp on Scott Parker’s head and while many have expressed their disapproval at the decision, Sergio Aguero has backed his team mate.
Aguero explained, "Firstly we all know what a fantastic player he is. But those of us who are really close to Mario know that off the field he's a really good lad.” He added, "Like a lot of players he has his own idiosyncrasies here and there. You know him as a player - what you see on the field. But I know he's a lovely lad."
Despite not being sent off, Mario Balotelli will still face a four match ban, after the English FA reviewed the incident and deemed it violent conduct. Manchester City and Mario Balotelli will be able to appeal the ban, which will mean that the striker will be available for the mid week Carling Cup semi final second leg match against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.
