There were a lot of raised eyebrows when it was revealed that Lewis Hamilton had decided to leave McLaren and take up a new challenge with Mercedes. McLaren then decided to replace Lewis with the talented youngster Sergio Perez, who has been impressing in Formula One recently.

Now, Sergio has admitted that he hopes to be challenging for the Formula One World Championship come the end of the 2013 season. He explained, “Hopefully we can have a very strong car and fight for the championship. That has to be the target.”
Perez added, “I don't feel the pressure but obviously you have to deliver here in McLaren. You are coming here to deliver results, to win championships. This is the target when you come to McLaren, the best team in F1, you have to really deliver the results.”
Sergio Perez teams up with Jenson Button
Sergio Perez is expected to be the number two driver at McLaren, behind former F1 World Champion Jenson Button. However, Sergio is a very talented young man and he will be pushing his new team mate all the way, hoping to become the first choice driver at McLaren.
