For months now, speculation on who will play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the upcoming ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ adaptation has run rampant. Although Ian Somerhalder seems to be firmly the lock as a fan favorite for playing the handsome Christian, there have been multitudes of leading ladies who have been put up for the part of Anastasia.

Shailene Woodley is gaining buzz
Two names who seem to have overtaken other contenders recently are Alexandra Daddario and Shailene Woodley. Daddario went so far as to confirm that she’d heard the rumors, telling EW, “I've heard [the rumors]. I don't believe they've started casting. I haven't heard anything about it. But I'm honored that people are throwing my name out for it. I'm honored that people would think of me for any big role that is talked about a lot. But, yes, I should read the books. I've heard that they are rather risqué..."
Fans seem to love the idea of Daddario playing Anastasia, with a fan writing on Books & Review, “I think Alexandra Daddario is the perfect Ana. She has the long brown hair, alabaster skin, blue eyes too big for her face & pouty lips. She has an innocent beauty requiring no makeup & can be played up sexy when need be.”

Shailene Woodley has also gained a lot of attention, when several recent reports had mentioned that the actress caught the eye of the producers. However, Woodley’s schedule is more packed than Daddario’s, with two blockbuster movies coming out in 2014 [Divergent and Amazing Spider-Man 2] so it’s hard to see her fitting in another huge movie. Despite this, would Woodley want to pass up such a huge opportunity? Twilight Producer Marty Bowen recently mentioned, “The next big stars are the actress who plays Anastasia Steele and the actor who plays Christian Grey. They will certainly have an invitation to the A-list table." As almost every young A-list actress is reported to be in contention for the role of Anastasia, it looks like the actresses of Hollywood definitely know that.
