When you are a young woman trying to make a name for yourself in Hollywood, it is always a bonus if you are in the best shape that you could possibly be in. It is for that reason that we regularly hear about different actresses in Hollywood taking on different diets and making sure that they work out on a regular basis.
Actress Shailene Woodley is one of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood today and she has one of the most unique diets of anyone in Hollywood. Shailene likes to follow a hunter gatherer style diet and, while talking about her eating habits, she admitted that it has been inspired by Native Americans.
Woodley told the May edition of Natural Health magazine, "I found that not only were they hunter-gatherers, they were also healers who relied on the plants around them. I thought that was really profound, so I started learning about all the wild plants in my area, as well as all of the wild medicines that I could gather and create for myself. I was in control of my body and I could feel what was happening. It was eye-opening."
Shailene then went on to admit that she and her friends often make fun of themselves for their diet, "(My friends and I) joke that our conversations sound like a S--- Wild People Say video. We were foraging for wild leeks in Maine last year and one of my friends said, "Does anyone want the rest of my rhizome?" And we all cracked up, thinking that only here and with this group of people would someone ask that question," added Woodley.
As for her acting career, Shailene Woodley has a number of interesting projects coming up, including White Bird in a Blizzard, and The Fault in Our Stars. Meanwhile, Shailene is preparing to begin shoot the Divergent sequel Insurgent, which will open on May 20, 2015.
