The X-Men movie franchise has become one of the biggest movie franchises around and is showing no signs of slowing down, with plenty more X-Men movies expected for the coming years. While we have seen a number of characters being recast with younger actors, the original cast have still be kept in the loop, making cameo appearances in the last movie.
Actor Shawn Ashmore played the role of Bobby Drake aka Iceman in the original X-Men movies, reprising the role for the last film X-Men: Days of Future Past. Shawn has now opened up about landing the role of Iceman for the first X-Men film, admitting that he was so excited at the prospect of working with Oscar winning actress Anna Paquin, who plays Rogue in the X-Men movies.
Ashmore explained, "It was huge. I was so excited. I grew up reading comic books, I grew up reading 'X-Men,' I was a huge fan of (director) Bryan Singer's work from 'The Usual Suspects.' I knew that I was going to get to play across from Anna Paquin, an Oscar winner. So it was this huge culmination of exciting things for me."
The sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past will be titled X-Men: Apocalypse and, while there have been plenty of rumours about who we can expect to see in the film, Shawn Ashmore says that he does not know whether he will return or not. We will just have to wait and see. We still have quite some wait too, as X-Men: Apocalypse will not open until May 19, 2016 in the UK and May 27, 2016 in the US.
