There has been plenty of talk about a Night at the Museum 3 being made, ever since the success of the 2009 movie Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. Now, it appears that the movie is definitely going ahead, with Shawn Levy set to return to direct the film.

The Night at the Museum movies have been financial hits, with the first Night at the Museum movie being made for $110m and bringing in $571m. Meanwhile, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian was made on a budget of $150m and managed to gross $415m.
Last year, Levy described the movie as, “It’s really funny, it’s very poignant, and it’s not just ‘Oh what museum are they going to this time?’ it’s a much meatier story than that,” which is certainly needed to move on from the previous movie and to keep movie goers interested.

Shawn Levy will return to direct the movie
Night at the Museum 3 will once again see Ben Stiller starring in the lead role and it is expected that Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan and Robin Williams will all return for their cameo roles in the movie. Night at the Museum 3 is expected to begin shooting in time to be released for Christmas 2014.
