It has been claimed by Geoff Johns, the chief creative officer for DC Comics, that there is still a possibility that Shazam could be adapted into a big screen, live action movie. Geoff has been linked to the Shazam movie, as writer and producer, since 2009 but insists that he has not given up on getting Shazam the movie made into a big screen adaptation.
Johns explained, "There's always a possibility for Shazam. There's always talk about Shazam. And I can't get into the specifics on that, but yeah, there's hope for Shazam." He also discussed how his latest back up feature The Curse of Shazam, which is set to run in DC’s Justice League as of issue #7, has many of the same ideas as his pitch for the Shazam movie.
He added, "It's got some elements that I pitched in there, and some of the same characters, obviously, because the characters cross over. Tonally, it's probably pretty close." Shazam centres around Billy Batson, a teenage boy who comes across the wizard Shazam who offers him the chance of a special ability. Once granted, Billy transforms into a superhuman adult.
