Shia LaBeouf has revealed that he suggested to director Michael Bay that he cast a more “bookish” character, when he was searching for a replacement for Megan Fox in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Megan Fox was sacked before the third Transformers movie for remarks she made about director Michael Bay.
LaBeouf explained, "I remember pitching to Mike, 'Maybe we should go with a more bookish type'. Mike said to me, and there's two faces to this that are hilarious and insane and also genius, so three sides. I remember him saying to me, 'Shia, we're not going with any bookish anything. This is a summer movie, we need a summer girl'. To his credit, Mike really understands his audience. There's a certain audience that goes to see these movies that has certain requirements that it needs out of its summer movies."
Megan Fox was eventually replaced by British model turned actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as Shia LaBeouf’s new love interest in Transformers. Shia has since admitted that he found Megan’s sacking a blessing due to his character being able to develop a better story. Transformers: Dark of the Moon is in cinemas now.
