When it comes to making a comic book movie, you really have to make sure that you get it just right, as the fanboys will be sure to let you know exactly what they think about it if you mess it up. Following the success of The Amazing Spider-Man, actor Andrew Garfield was praised by many for his performance as Andrew Garfield aka Spider-Man. However, the same cannot be said for the sequel.
While The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was still a huge financial success, managing to gross $203m in the US and $706m worldwide, the movie was heavily panned by both fans and critics alike. While criticising the movie itself, they also had a dig at Andrew Garfield, with many suggesting that he should be replaced in the role of Spider-Man.
Unfortunately for those fans, it looks like they are going to have to wait for quite some time before they get a new Spider-Man, as it was previously stated that Andrew has signed on to star in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4, with the possibility of Garfield even signing on for further movies should he so wish.
A previous report quoted an insider as saying, "Andrew is already contracted to make two more films for release in 2015 and 2016. We are looking to tie him to the role for as many as a further four pictures given the huge success the franchise is enjoying. The part is pretty much his for as long as he chooses." Obviously those release dates are a bit off, so could it be off completely?
While Marc Webb will return to direct The Amazing Spider-Man 3, he will hand over the reins for a new director in The Amazing Spider-Man 4, so it will be interesting to see how much longer Andrew Garfield does stay on after that.
Do you think Andrew Garfield should be replaced as Spider-Man?
