It has been decades now since we first got teased about the possibility of a Ghostbusters 3 movie being made, with fans calling for a third instalment of the hit franchise ever since Ghostbusters 2 was released. We have been told for many years that a Ghostbusters 3 movie is going to happen but, just as we get excited about the prospect, something happens to send the project back into development hell.
However, it now looks like we are finally going to get a Ghostbusters 3 movie, which will aim to get as many of the original cast members back together as possible. One original cast member who will appear in Ghostbusters 3 is actress Sigourney Weaver, who played the role of Dana Barrett in the first two Ghostbusters film.
Sigourney has revealed how she had a specific demand for producer Ivan Reitman before agreeing to return for Ghostbusters 3. Weaver told Vanity Fair magazine, "I said, I have one condition want my son Oscar [from 'Ghostbusters II'] to be a Ghostbuster, and he said, 'We've already done that.'"
So far it has been confirmed that Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd will return for Ghostbusters 3, while Harold Ramis sadly passed away earlier in the year. As for Bill Murray, it has been claimed that he does not want to return to the franchise but writer Ethan Cohen says that the project can still go ahead without him.
There have been a lot of rumours about what the plot in Ghostbusters 3 will be and it is expected that we will see a new group of Ghostbusters, with the original guys playing smaller roles in the film.
