The X Factor creator Simon Cowell has revealed that he is so pleased by the success of the British boyband One Direction, who were formed on the UK version of The X Factor, that he believes that a band could be formed for The X Factor USA. Simon admitted that he is hoping to find a new band who could be compared to the likes of 'N Sync or Backstreet Boys or Destiny's Child.
Cowell explained, "It does prove the point that I think we're entering a very exciting phase again in pop music and I think One Direction will be huge this year. Importantly for the American show it will attract hopefully the next 'N Sync or Backstreet Boys or Destiny's Child, because there aren't that many groups at the moment doing well in America.”
He added, "This is a massive opportunity for them and allowing groups to audition does separate us from the other singing competitions." Simon Cowell recently revealed how proud he was of The X Factor boyband One Direction, who recently won their first Brit Award for Best Single for their track What Makes You Beautiful. Open auditions for season two of The X Factor USA are set to start on March 14 in Kansas City.
