With the new season of The X Factor just a few days away from its premiere, a lot of talk has turned to previous stars of the series and there have not been many to go on and become as big as former contestants One Direction, who are considered the biggest boyband on the planet, making millions along the way.
Over the past couple of years One Direction have been very busy, writing and recording albums, touring, making movies and anything else you can think of in between. One Direction have been working on their new album and Simon Cowell has been fortunate enough to listen to their new songs, insisting that he is very impressed with what they have recorded so far.
Cowell was chatting to the guys over at Capital FM, when he told them, "The album's fantastic. There's probably five or six tracks I've already heard that could be singles. There's some very different kinds of songs than what we've done before, they've taken a few more risks. Most importantly, the boys love writing, they love recording."
As well as praising the new One Direction album, Simon Cowell also went on to address the constant rumours about One Direction splitting up, insisting that he believes they will be together for many years to come. He added, "I went on Twitter recently to say I don't think they're going to split up, they're having too good a time! I think they could be doing this five, 10, 20 years if they wanted to!"
The new season of The X Factor will air on ITV this Saturday and Sunday.
