British actor Simon Pegg has worked with J.J. Abrams in the Star Trek movies, where he plays the role of Scotty in the films. With J.J. Abrams directing Star Wars: Episode VII, reports suggested that Simon Pegg was desperate for a role in the movie. However, Simon has now admitted that he would rather just watch the film at the cinema.
While talking to Industria Magazine, Pegg stated, "It's not one of my great wishes to be in Star Wars. I'd love to go to the cinema and just watch it." Simon also went on to admit that he was a little relieved that George Lucas was no longer making the Star Wars films.
He added, "I'll always have a soft spot for George Lucas because he made the original films, but those prequels were dreadful and if he were making more Star Wars films, I'd be worried."
While a lot of Star Wars fans are not very happy with the decision to make new Star Wars films, Simon Pegg says that he expects J.J. Abrams to win them over and bring the fun back to the Star Wars franchise.
Star Wars: Episode VII has a planned release date for 2015 but J.J. Abrams has admitted that he will change the release date if needed.
