Unlike many stars his age, Skandar Keynes barely exists online and in social media. The handsome actor known for his portrayal of Edmund in the Chronicles of Narnia films, focuses most of his attention on his present goal in life – education. With no date yet set for the production of The Horse and His Boy or The Last Battle, Skandar’s priorities seem to be finishing his final year at Cambridge University and participating in the environmental projects near and dear to his family’s heart.
Many people may not know, but our favorite brooding Britain is in fact the great-great-great grandson of Charles Darwin. His family’s impressive lineage does not stop there, with a Nobel prize winner, writers, and many other shakers and movers lining the family tree. It’s little wonder then, that Skandar himself devotes a lot of energy towards environmental projects. A majority of the posts on his official website – skandar-keynes.com – relate to his visits to the Galapagos Islands, his hunt for the grey wolf in Switzerland, and other activities associated with environmental preservation and exploration.
Like his on screen presence, this young actor is breaking the mold with his approach to stardom. He doesn’t tweet, vine, or even post facebook updates very often. Instead he studies, works hard, and contributes to respected projects and organizations like the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, World Wide Federation, and the Charles Darwin Foundation.
After the conclusion of the Chronicles of Narnia series, it remains to be seen if Skandar will continue his pursuit of acting. He definitely enjoyed his time on set, as evidenced by his charming nonstop smile during interviews and behind-the-scenes footage; but, Skandar seems to know something few youths understand – you can make a difference in the world even if no one watches you do it. No matter what he decides to focus on next, it is certain the dedicated Skandar Keynes will impact the world.
