While Marvel are dominating the comic book movie genre, with a number of films released each year, DC and Warner Bos. are trying their best to catch up. Following the success of the Superman reboot with Man of Steel, they have decided to go a step further, by making a Batman vs Superman movie.
It has since been confirmed that Ben Affleck will play the role of Bruce Wayne aka Batman, taking on Henry Cavill as Clark Kent aka Superman. While many fans have criticised the casting of Ben Affleck, former Smallville star Tom Welling has praised it, insisting that he thinks Ben will do a great job.
Welling was speaking to E! News, saying, "It's great. He's a tremendous actor, he's a wonderful director and I wish him the best. It's hard to criticise things before they even happen. I know they'll endeavour to make the best film they can."
There have been many rumours about the direction that DC will take their cinematic universe, with suggestions that they will mix their movies with their television shows. Green Arrow is already well established with the television series Arrow, while The Flash is also set to get his own television show.
Batman vs Superman has a release date planned for July 17, 2015.
