The hit 1986 movie Heat became a cult success over the years and, while it was not exactly a huge box office hit, it has developed a rather large fanbase. Now, it has been confirmed that there is going to be a Heat remake made, with a modern spin on the classic movie.

Sofia Vergara in talks for Heat remake
Casting has already gotten underway, with Jason Statham being cast in the male lead, made famous by Burt Reynolds in the original movie. Now, it has been claimed that Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara is interested in being in the film and is in talks to play the female lead.
In the original movie, Burt Reynolds plays a recovering gambling addict, whose female friend is attacked by the mafia, which leads him to offer his services as a bodyguard for hire. While, Jason Statham is set to play the Burt Reynolds role, it has not yet been revealed who Sofia Vergara will be playing.

Heat is based on the William Goldman novel of the same name and the author penned the screenplay for the original movie. He is now going to adapt his novel once again, for a more modern take on the film. Heat will be directed by Simon West, with production expected to get underway next month.
