Sophie Turner was one of the many actors and actresses to shine from the first season of Game of Thrones and, with Game of Thrones season two just a few months away, she has discussed one of the differences that the television series has over the book. In the book, her character Sansa Stark is only 11 years old but in the television series they have aged her up a bit by making her 13 years old.
Turner explained, “The scene with Catelyn where she’s talking about marrying the king, I think that even though she is being immature about it, she is still 13 but if she was 11 she would be a lot more whiny and a lot more protesting if you will. When Catelyn says ‘the king is not really what we want for you’ I think if she was an 11 year old, well I certainly would have, caused kind of an argument with her.”
She added, “But she just kind of persuades her a bit more maturely and she acts beyond her years, well she tries to but inside she’s really innocent and really vulnerable and I tried to get that across, as well as aging her up a bit.” Game of Thrones season 2 is expected to premiere on HBO on Sunday, April 15 but we are still awaiting official confirmation.
