It has been revealed recently that the eagerly anticipated Star Trek sequel was still being scripted, so the release date would have to be put back. Although this news has upset many of the Star Trek fans, it has actually pleased Zachary Quinto, who played Spock in the 2009 movie.
Zachary explained, "I think there was an implicit understanding that we would do it again, and that we would all be really excited when that time came, but that it probably wouldn't be for [a while]. You can't go through something so sweeping and so powerful an experience and expect to do it again right away.”
Quinto then added, "Everybody wanted to let it settle and we all went off and did other stuff, and now we're gearing up to go back to it, eventually, at some point. I think there's something really nice about that. It gives people a chance to breathe, and it makes people miss it a little bit."
Zachary Quinto has previously suggested that Star Trek 2 could see his character Spock exploring a more romantic side of himself, with Uhura, who is played by Zoe Saldana. It is now expected that Star Trek 2 will hit the big screen in the summer of 2013.
