Fans in the UK have been shrieking with excitement following the news today, that they will get to see Star Trek Into Darkness over a week earlier than expected. The news will no doubt disappoint US fans of the franchise, as they will have to wait for the original release date.

Star Trek cast
It was previously thought that Star Trek Into Darkness would be released in both the US and the UK on May 17 and, while the movie will still be released in the US on that date, it has been confirmed that it will now debut in the UK on May 9, over a week earlier than expected.
One saving grace for US fans, is the fact that Star Trek Into Darkness will hit IMAX theatres on May 15, although, due to the amount of fans that have already purchased tickets for this date, it is unlikely that the US release date will change to match that of the UK.

Benedict Cumberbatch as John Harrison
Star Trek Into Darkness sees the return of Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto, while welcoming new comers Benedict Cumberbatch and Alice Eve. Star Trek Into Darkness will once again be directed by J.J. Abrams and we cannot wait for its release in May.
