It has been confirmed that there are going to be a number of Star Wars spin-off movies, as well as the new Star Wars trilogy. The new spin-off films are set to focus on the younger years of some of the original characters from the franchise, telling their full back story.
The Yoda movie is set to be the first spin-off
It has been reported that the first three characters that are going to be given the spin-off treatment are Boba Fett and Han Solo, with the first one following the rise of the Jedi Master Yoda. It is expected that these new spin-off movies will follow a similar path to that of X-Men, with an origins based film.
The Han Solo spin-off movie has been receiving a huge amount of hype, with some places even claiming that the movie will focus on the character in a time period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. However, all Star Wars spin-offs are still in the early stages and are expected to change over time.

One of the main reasons for making these new, origin style, spin-off movies is so that we can see the return of Darth Vader to the Star Wars universe. Darth Vader will not appear in the new Star Wars trilogy, so the spin-offs are a great way to bring him back to the big screen.
