Stella McCartney has another accomplishment to add to her already long list of awards and honors. She was just awarded the OBE [Order of the British Empire] award by none other than the Queen herself, and she opens up about the experience in an interview with Forbes.
She explains, "It was really a very proud moment and a great honor. It was pretty surreal and also a big reward for everyone that works with me. It’s a huge team and to me to get that award is really the whole team getting award."
Stella is also asked about whether she thinks she's proved her early critics wrong with her accomplishments and now the OBE, and she replies, "What do you think? It’s never easy for me to answer that question. It’s always better for me to ask you that question. I’m far too modest to say “yes, I’ve proven them wrong. Of course I have.” I don’t know. I hope I have soften the criticism as I go along." She also touches upon whether the criticism still affects her, saying, "If I’m really honest they don’t touch my soul or really get deep into me. If I pay too much attention to critics it just takes my mind off what I am doing in life..."
Stella McCartney recently went on a multi-city tour in Asia, where she spent several weeks increasing her brand's profile in Japan and China. She was actually joined by a couple of friends and associates, including Kate Moss, as she tied up her Asia trip with a party in Hong Kong.
