When '300' first became a hit and launched Zack Snyder as a director to watch, there were immediate plans for a follow-up. Considering that most of the men in '300' die, the filmmakers came up with a creative way to tell another story set in the same world. The events of '300: Rise of Empire' take place before, during, and after the events of 300, and will feature new characters as well as returning characters.

Sullivan Stapleton stars as the new protagonist in 300: Rise of Empire
The first trailer for the film has recently been released, and sees a new antagonist in Eva Green and a new protagonist in Sullivan Stapleton. Rodrigo Santoro returns as Xerxes, and Lena Headey returns as Queen Gorgo.
It is actually Headey's narration that starts off the trailer, as Gorgo exclaims, "It begins as whisper. A promise. The lightest of breezes dances above the death cries of 300 men. That breeze became a wind. A wind, my brothers, of sacrifice. A wind of freedom. A wind of justice. A wind of vengeance.”
