Susan Sarandon was almost molested on a casting couch

Susan Sarandon opens up to Elle Magazine about going through a casting couch situation in New York City when she was first getting started in the business.  She mentions that it was a ‘disgusting’ situation that happened in her early days, and “it was not successful.  For either of us.”

She says the situation was horrible, saying, “I just went into a room, and a guy practically threw me on the desk. It was my early days in New York, and it was really disgusting. It wasn’t like I gave it a second though, it was so badly done.”

Sarandon has spoken up about the dangers of Hollywood in interviews before, especially about young actresses and the danger of being pulled in to the glamour of Hollywood.  Along with Sarandon, many other actresses have also mentioned their experiences with the casting couch – although they all mention that it has gone done a lot nowadays, that it is still something that exists with actors and actresses starting out in the industry.

Sarandon has a busy couple of years coming up, with over six films covering her 2013 slate. Sarandon also recently divorced her long-time husband, Tim Robbins, and has reportedly been dating a much younger man.
