It is a rather exciting time in Holland at the moment, with the changing of the throne in the royal family. Queen Beatrix has passed the throne to her son Willem-Alexander, which will see her replaced by new Queen Maxima. Now, model and television presenter Sylvie van der Vaart has been talking about the passing of the throne.
Van der Vaart said of Queen Beatrix, "The royal family has such a high priority, because it means a certain stability for the citizens. Many governments change, but our royal house is stable and thus we identify ourselves as well. Queen Beatrix is a person we all admire and love. And I think the entire nation is grateful for what she has done for our country as a queen." She then went on to speak of her admiration for Queen Maxima.
She added, "I've only spoken once on the phone when Holland became Vice World Champion during the World Cup in South Africa. She is a very special person. Although it is not Dutch, but she's one of us. And what she has done everything in such a short time, is very admirable. For me, Maxima is a woman who has that certain something. She is intelligent, beautiful, sincere, warm, very friendly, and it is the center of life. I think everyone feels the same way Dutchman. She takes care of many social projects and has done a very good job there. For all Dutch women she is a tremendous role model."
The passing of the throne is set to take place in Holland tomorrow.
