Taissa Farmiga is busy promoting 'The Bling Ring', and she recently spoke about her big break when she first started out acting. Despite having a famous big sister in Vera Farmiga, Taissa reveals that she tried her best not to try on family connections when she was trying to earn roles.
She does reveal that her first big role came because of her sister, adding, "My older sister's an actress and I visited her on set multiple times. And I was just a little girl, around nine, and I'd watch her on the monitor, and I'd be like 'This is cool.' I never thought, 'Oh, I want to follow in her footsteps.' And she was directing her first film and starring in it and she needed someone to play the younger version of her character and I look like her and she threw me in her movie. I didn't think about it, she was my older sister so I did it."
She adds that it soon started her career, explaining, "Six months went by, back to living my normal life, and I then went to Sundance and kind of had to make a decision because people were inquiring, 'Oh, is your younger sister acting now?' I didn't think anything would come from what I did. I didn't think about it. But I loved being on set. And I decided to pursue it. I like being in front of the camera. I like pulling out different aspects of my personality."
'The Bling Ring' is currently out in limited release and although Farmiga has a small role in the film, it's certainly memorable. The film also stars Emma Watson, Claire Julien, Katie Chang, Gavin Rossdale, Leslie Mann, and Israel Broussard.
