When it was announced that a John Carter movie was being made there were a lot of very excited fans all over the world who could not wait to see the character brought to the big screen. Then when it was announced that Hollywood actor Taylor Kitsch would play the lead role in the movie, the excitement levels went up a notch, especially among the female fans.
Unfortunately though, following the release of John Carter in 2012, it was deemed a flop, only managing to gross $283m, from a budget of $250m. This pretty much put to bed the plans that were in place for a John Carter sequel, which is something that still upsets Taylor Kitsch to this day. Taylor starred with Lynn Collins in John Carter and he has revealed how they have remained good friends, while also admitting that the John Carter sequel would have been awesome.
During a recent interview, Kitsch explained, "I still talk to Lynn Collins almost daily. Those relationships that were born won’t be broken by people we never met … I miss the family. I miss Andrew Stanton. I know the second script was fucking awesome. We had to plant a grounding, so we could really take off in the second one. The second one was even more emotionally taxing, which was awesome."
With the John Carter sequel now looking like never happening, Taylor Kitsch is focussed on his other acting projects, such as the television movie The Normal Heart, which sees him star with the likes of Jim Parsons, Matt Bomer and Mark Ruffalo, to name just a few. The Normal Heart is now showing on HBO and has been earning some rave reviews.
