Country singer Taylor Swift has lent her voice to the character Audrey in the upcoming movie Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax and Taylor has been discussing the movie and the role that she plays. Taylor admitted that she jumped at the chance to be involved in the movie as she was a huge Dr. Seuss fan as a child.
Swift explained, "It was an immediate 'Yes' as soon as I heard that it was Dr Seuss. That kind of goes back to the original core of why I wanted to write music and tell stories - I loved Dr Seuss as a kid, it was my first introduction to poetry and then poetry became all I ever thought about, and then that later on became songwriting, which has made my life really fun. It all went back to the initial reason I love doing this, so I of course wanted to do it."
She added, "What I loved most about this process is that they kept this movie so close to what the book wanted it to be. Them naming the character Audrey and naming her after Dr Seuss's wife was a really sweet homage to her, and to her and Ted. The character was always dreamed up as this hopeful daydreamer. I really was drawn to the fact that she was the exception to this entire society and the fact that she was the catalyst for all the amazing things that happened." Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is released in the US on March 2 and in the UK on July 27.
