Ashley Greene's first starring role in the film 'The Apparition' has received absolutely terrible reviews, standing currently at an atrocious 3% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Greene has long since been famous, exploding onto the scene with the first Twilight movie, along with the rest of the Twilight cast. However, she has really only played major supporting roles in films, and her TV show 'Pan Am' has been cancelled. 'Apparition' was her first chance to really prove herself as a leading lady, and many thought the film would provide her that chance. Unfortunately, it now looks like that will not be the case.
The reviews are saying the film is incredibly soapy and terribly made, with cheap thrills and wooden acting. Opposite Greene is Sebastian Stan, who is generally considered a strong actor (he's previously starred in Captain America: The First Avenger, Gossip Girl, and this summer's Political Animals mini-series), but critics say even he was weighed down by the terrible material.
Let's hope she may get another chance to prove her chops before studio executives and producers write her off. Even if Greene is not a tremendous talent, she does have a good screen presence.
