Hollywood superstar Samuel L Jackson has played the role of Nick Fury in the Marvel movies since 2008, appearing in six different Marvel movies to date, not including the upcoming sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron. Sam has become a huge hit with comic book fans, with Nick Fury becoming a huge fans favourite of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There have been a number of calls for Marvel to give fans either a Nick Fury standalone movie or, failing that at least give him a television series, or even just a mini-series. However, it looks like all of these calls for more Nick Fury have been in vain, as it now looks like it is the end of the road for the character.
Samuel L Jackson recently confirmed that his Nick Fury role in Avengers: Age of Ultron is little more than a cameo appearance and now it looks like we have found out why. It has been revealed that we are going to see Nick Fury being killed off in Avengers: Age of Ultron, as Samuel L Jacksons contract comes to an end and he has decided not to renew it.
While fans are obviously disappointed that Nick Fury is getting killed in Avengers: Age of Ultron, it does mean that we will now see Maria Hill, played by Cobie Smulders, being given a more prominent role at S.H.I.E.L.D., giving her a bigger part to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not all bad news then.
Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1, 2015 in both the US and the UK.
