The Dark Knight Rises gets PG-13 rating

It has been confirmed that The Dark Knight Rises is set to be given a PG-13 rating, which will disappoint some fans but it is not really that much of a surprise. From the promotional material that we have seen for The Dark Knight Rises, there does seem to be a fair amount of violence.

Also, add to that the fact that The Dark Knight was also a PG-13 and it was to be expected. The Dark Knight went on to gross over $1 billion worldwide but there were concerns from a few, who claimed that the movie was a bit too violent to be a PG-13.

It has been claimed that the exact reason behind the PG-13 rating for The Dark Knight Rises, is because it contains “intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language”. It is often the case that a movie which is rated PG-13 in the US will be rated a 12A in the UK.

However, that might not necessarily be the case for The Dark Knight Rises, as The Hunger Games was given a 12A rating in the UK and received many complaints about being too violent. The likelihood is that it will still be given a 12A rating, without having to make any cuts but we will just have to wait and see.

The Dark Knight Rises is released on July 20.
