Before the release of the first Expendables movie, we were a bit unsure of whether a bunch of over the hill action stars would be able to pull off a big screen action blockbuster. However, The Expendables proved us wrong and was a fairly good film, which warranted a sequel.
Steven Seagal is not in The Expendables 3
Then The Expendables 2 came, which had the most ridiculous cheesy lines in it and it was nowhere near as good as the first film. With that said, The Expendables 2 did well at the box office and now work has begun on the script for The Expendables 3.
Sylvester Stallone has been talking about the third instalment of The Expendables franchise, revealing that Steven Seagal will not be appearing in the movie, as well as admitting that he would love to get Jackie Chan on board.

Stallone took to his official Twitter account to leave the following tweets, "Writing EX3 at the moment… there are going to be mountains of surprises."
"EX3 needs NEW blood and more humor…. The films were always meant to be more on the humorous side with moments of drama."
"No S. Seagal, sorry ,but maybe we get lucky with J. Chan! And some young bloods!!!"
"By young I mean 22 to 27. Not big bruisers but tech wizard, super brains and a young woman who is not a sex symbol but funny ,tough,REAL."
So it seems that, once they realise that they old action heroes are done for, they will then hand over the reins to the new young stars, in a bid to keep the franchise alive.
