Following the huge success of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, fans were delighted to learn that Peter Jackson and co. had decided to return to adapt the prequel The Hobbit for the big screen. Despite the fact that The Hobbit movies have gone on to make a huge amount of money, with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey making $1.02bn worldwide and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug grossing $958m worldwide, fans have been left fairly disappointed by the films.

The Hobbit movies have made a lot of money
With that said though, we are still very excited about The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and are hopeful that it will be a huge improve on the previous films. The first poster for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies has been released and it looks very impressive, increasing our excitement for the film. The poster shows a standoff between the dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) and it really does look impressive.
Following on from where The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug left of, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is officially described as "The Company of Thorin has reached Smaug's lair; but can Bilbo and the Dwarves reclaim Erebor and the treasure? And, if so, can they hold on to it?"
