Author Stephenie Meyer enjoyed huge success with her Twilight novels, which then went on to achieve enormous success as a movie franchise. Now Stephenie is at it again, as her novel The Host is transformed in a big screen adaptation.

The Host is not due out for another year but we have been given the teaser trailer, the possible synopsis and now the official movie poster for The Host. Those of you who are familiar with the novel will recognise a similarity with the movie poster.

Meanwhile, the synopsis for the novel states:
Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading ‘soul’ who has been given Melanie’s body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. Melanie fills Wanderer’s thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves – Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body’s desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she’s never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.
It is expected that the movie will not differ too much from the novel. The Host stars Saoirse Ronan, Jake Abel, Max Irons, William Hurt, Diane Kruger and Chandler Canterbury and is expected to be released on March 29, 2013. For those of you who cannot wait, check out the teaser trailer below.
