The excitement surround the sequel to this year’s hit movie The Hunger Games has been growing and growing, as the release of Catching Fire gradually creeps closer. Many people were disappointed to learn that Gary Ross would not be returning for Catching Fire but are hopeful that his replacement Francis Lawrence can do a good job.
Francis is currently in the process of filming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire but will be returning to direct both parts of the final movie Mockingjay. For those of you unfamiliar with the Suzanne Collins novels, Mockinjay sees Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) become the Mockingjay, the symbol of rebellion.
The Hunger Games movie franchise is expected to become one of the most successful franchises in movie history. The Hunger Games grossed over $645m worldwide and the next three movies are expected to equal that. If not exceed it.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set to be released on November 22, 2013, while The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 will be released on November 21, 2014 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 will hit the big screen on November 20, 2015.
Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks and Donald Sutherland are all believed to be returning for all of the remaining Hunger Games movies.
