The Hunger Games is still a few days away from being released but it is still pretty obvious that the movie is going to smash all sorts of box office records. With that said, and the fact that director Gary Ross has confirmed that he will direct The Hunger Games sequel, it seems almost certain that Catching Fire will be made next.

While it has been stated that, despite the fact that pre ordered tickets to see The Hunger Games have broken records and the fanbase for the Suzanne Collins books is huge, The Hunger Games will have to prove its financial worth in order for Catching Fire to be made.
However, it is clear that The Hunger Games is going to be huge and that Catching Fire will be looking to get underway as soon as possible. The stars of The Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, have all confirmed that they will return to their roles for Catching Fire.

The Hunger Games is set to be released on March 23 and, so far, Catching Fire has been given the tentative release date of November 22, 2013. That date is likely to change between now and then but it does not look like we will have to wait too long for The Hunger Games sequel.
Have you pre ordered your ticket to see The Hunger Games?
