When you think of motorsport and Formula One in particular, you think about the drivers and the race track and the cars and everything in between. Then there are the beautiful women that we see on the grid of every Formula One race of every season, the F1 pit girls.
While some of these pit girls, at some of the race tracks around the world, are already models in their own right, there are also plenty of women who have different day jobs. Just take 24-year-old Krystal Malloy, who is a photographer by trade and was a pit girl at the US Grand Prix.
She explained, "What's it like being a grid girl? Get ready for an almost paparazzi style feel to it! You walk out and you instantly have cameras taking pictures of you and video cameras filming you. You're just 'wow, this is amazing!' You feel the energy of the people, the crowd and how excited they are. It's a wonderful feeling to be part of this."
While many feel that the point of a F1 pit girl is to just stand there and look pretty, there is actually a lot more to it than that. These girls also have to be personable and approachable, making people feel comfortable and relaxed in their presence. Pit girls have been a part of F1 for many years now and we hope they will be for many more to come.
