Theo Walcott’s cousin Jacob Walcott to sign for Utrecht

It has been reported that Jacob Walcott, the cousin of Arsenal’s English winger Theo Walcott, could be set to move to Holland, as he is currently in talks to sign for Utrecht. 19 year old striker Jacob, who is currently contracted to Reading, is on trial with the Dutch club and if he impresses during his spell he could be offered the chance to join the top flight club.

Jacob Walcott spent some time playing in the Dutch league last season, when he was sent out on loan to Telstar and he has now returned to the Netherlands, where he is hoping to gain more experience. Jacob turned out for the Utrecht second string on Tuesday night and is hoping that he has done enough to convince the club to take him on permanently.

Utrecht director of football Foeke Booy explained, "We were not looking but if we think this player could be an enhancement it could happen because it would cost very little." Jacob Walcott joined Reading’s youth academy in 2008 and turned professional with the club in 2010. As well as going on loan to Telstar last season, he has also had a loan spell with English non league club Staines Town.
